The Bedern Hall Foundation – Keeping York’s History Alive
Bedern Hall is a Medieval Hall located in the centre of York, but so many people don’t know it’s wealth of history and the story behind the building. Having been used as part of the College of the Vicars Choral from the 1390s up until the middle of the 17th century, it is now a place where citizens and tourists of York can come and explore the history, attend an event, or hire it for their own personal or business occasion. The only buildings that remain of the College of the Vicars Choral, who sang services in York Minster, are the Hall, the Chapel and the Gatehouse.
September Events
September at Bedern Hall is set to be a busy month of events, with a Gin Night, an evening of Art and a Breakfast Networking Event.
We host a variety of events here at the Hall and are always happy to have a chat to discuss potential collaborations for future endeavours.
Keep up to date with our upcoming events by signing up to our Events Mailing List here.

Bedern Hall Foundation
Have you heard of the Bedern Hall foundation? Or have you heard of Bedern Hall at all?
The stories this hidden gem holds are so significant to the history of York that we launched ‘The Bedern Hall Foundation’ in 2013 to raise funds to help secure the Hall’s future.
A Crafty Christmas
The perfect space for Business Events
Did you know the historic city of York is under 2 hours away from London and a mere 2 hours 24 minutes from Edinburgh? Being located in the heart of North Yorkshire makes York a great place to visit whether it’s for business or pleasure.
As York is an ideal city to host events for people coming from all different directions of the country, whether it’s North or South, the only question left is the venue. Just a short 15 minute walk or a 5 minute taxi ride from York train station and situated close to the famous York Minster, Bedern Hall is an ideal setting for any business meeting.
Art in the Hall
This year Bedern Hall is welcoming 3 local artists to exhibit their work in the historic hall. The series of exhibitions hopes to enhance the hall by drawing in new visitors and, with artists generously agreeing to donations from sales, bring in funds for The Bedern Hall Foundation and help towards the plans for the future.
Pass on your passion – Volunteering in York
This month we celebrated National Volunteers Week (1st-7th June) which gave us the chance to highlight some of the great work our volunteers do at Bedern Hall and thank them for being such an imperative part of the day to day working of the Hall.
